Check Out Worldox Latest GX4 Update 14

Worldox GX4 Update 14

Worldox Update 14 is right around the corner!  Worldox will begin making it available to some clients as early as January 15th.  We are very excited about the changes/improvements!

Like with updates from all software companies, we remind folks that unless you have a high tolerance for pain, let other people test the “bleeding edge” new releases of software.  While we are sure Worldox has brought this version through extensive testing, there is only so much testing and so many problems that they will find in testing environments versus the real world.  If you are interested in the update, please reach out to us to discuss the best timing for your organization.  We generally recommend holding off a few weeks or months unless there is a feature that you can’t live without, or an important bug that is being fixed in the new release.

Unlike previous Worldox Updates, Update 14 contains three components:

  • Worldox GX4 Updated Code (accessed by running WDUPDATE)
  • Worldox Web 3.0 (installed separately, specifications appear below)
  • Worldox Email Engine (installed separately, specifications appear below)

What are some of the updates relevant to your organization?

The Worldox GX4 Updated Code includes the Task and Notify features, formerly only available by purchasing the Workflow Tools.  The Email Engine management tools in the update are quite significant, giving users the ability to see when other people have saved emails and being able to map existing inbox subfolders directly to a matter in Worldox.

Worldox Web 3.0 will provide your organization access to Worldox through an internet browser and/or the App on the iPhone and iPad.  These are fantastic improvements to mobility that you do not want to miss.  Having access to matters and documents in this manner on a tablet, iPhone or laptop will make a big impact on your organization’s ability to eliminate the need to maintain paper files.

Worldox decided to roll out the components separately for several reasons, the primary being that the Worldox GX4 Updated Code (accessed by running WDUPDATE) must be installed before the other components. We always recommend that you contact us for assistance in installing updates.  We know this is an added cost, but the update is not something to install yourself unless you have had experience with major Worldox updates in the past. If you are running GX4 code dated 6/15/2017 (WDU10) or earlier, you must involve a VAR to assist in the transition to Indexer as a Service.

For a tour of these new features, click here to watch a recording of Worldox’s webinar covering Worldox Web 3.0 and the new Email Engine.

There is no requirement to install Worldox Web 3.0 or the new Email Engine at the same time or at all. These two add-ons may be installed at a later date, if desired. Please remember that they will only work with the Worldox GX4 Updated Code WDU14 or higher.

Requirements

Worldox Web 3.0:
Windows Server 2012 R2 or higher running IIS
Full time broadband Internet connection
Static IP address with a corresponding hostname
Windows 7 (SP1 and x64 required) or 10 (x64 required) workstation to serve as a Worldox Proxy Server is highly recommended

Email Service Exchange Agent:
Windows 7 or 10, 64-bit only
.NET Framework 4.7
Worldox Client installed
Exchange 2013 CU17 or Exchange 2016 CU6, both with EWS

Email Service Workstation Agent (only necessary for PST processing):
Windows 7 or 10, 32-bit or 64-bit
.NET Framework 4.7
Outlook 2013 32-bit or Outlook 2016 32-bit or 64-bit

These newer components will require setup by Affinity or other certified consultant. Finally, Worldox Web will be free of charge for Worldox Professional and Enterprise customers who install it on premises and for Worldox Cloud customers. However, Worldox Professional and Enterprise customers who prefer that Worldox host Worldox Web will still be offered the Worldox Connect bundle that includes Hosted Worldox Web at the current cost ($17/user/month if billed annually, $20/user/month if billed monthly).
